Apparently, Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturer in China, has experienced delays caused by COVID-19 and the country’s strict policies to limit the spread of the virus. During Apple’s latest earnings call, according to interested in trade (Opens in a new tab)CEO Tim Cook blamed the iPhone sales delay on supply chain problems, saying, “We’re still tied up today, so we’re working hard to meet demand.”
We have checked every model of Apple iPhone 14 Available today, incl. iPhone 14 Plusand iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max to see what we can buy today at the Apple Web Store. We found that the two least expensive iPhone models, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, are readily available in every storage capacity and in every colour. We can ship one today or buy one from a nearby store.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max And Pro models are hard to find, at least if we’re picky about color or storage, or both. Every iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max has a shipping time with delivery between November 23 and December 1. Apple seems confident that the iPhones will be delivered well before the holiday season, but not in time for Thanksgiving.
There are also iPhone 14 Pro models available in our local stores, but only sporadically. Our US office is based in the New York City area, and we conduct polling for polling stations in suburban New York just north of the city.
What is the bottom line? Every iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max color, and every storage, is available for pickup somewhere, but you might have a hard time matching
If we want the iPhone 14 Pro in Deep Purple, one of the stores nearby has a 128GB model available, and a different Apple Store has a 256GB model. The larger 512 and 1TB models are not available in stores near us. Deep Purple is the most popular iPhone 14 Pro model among the dozens of stores we surveyed.
There are two stores with 1TB iPhone 14 Pro but only in gold color. No other color with the highest capacity is now available in stores. In fact, the only gold iPhone 14 Pro that we can find in stores is the 1TB model.
If you are looking for an iPhone 14 Pro Max, it will be easier to find the phone if you choose a higher storage capacity. The purple 14 Pro Max can be found in stores today in every capacity except 128GB. You can get it up to 1 TB now.
In fact, we found that the 1TB iPhone 14 Pro Max is available in all colors except silver. For the silver device, we only found a 256GB model available. With a capacity of 256 GB, every color of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is available for in-store pickup today at stores near us.
What is the bottom line? Every iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max color, and every storage, is available to pick up somewhere, but you might struggle to match your favorite permutations. It’s easier to find the iPhone 14 Pro in purple. It’s even easier to find the iPhone 14 Pro Max if you’re willing to spend $1,599 today to buy a 1TB model.
Analysis: What are we supposed to do now?!
This display issue is surprising, especially for Apple. Apple CEO Tim Cook was a former supply chain expert at the company who led Apple’s ship to incredibly tight inventory control. Only a global pandemic and global catastrophe could prevent Apple from meeting demand expectations with responsible Cook.
If you have to settle down, we highly recommend getting the storage you want on the color. You can always get a cute case for your phone or stick a fancy sticker on it. You won’t be able to add more space for your precious videos and TV shows later.
Also, you should note that if you break your iPhone and need to replace it, the quickest replacement option may not be the color you purchased. If you want to quickly replace your broken purple iPhone 14 Pro, you may end up with black in the end, anyway. Color is most important in the Apple Store, not in your pocket.
