For iPhone, here’s what you need to know.

Setting up emergency contacts on your iPhone is a must.

iPhone has an Emergency SOS feature that allows you to quickly contact emergency services.

But you can also add emergency contacts.

Once the emergency call ends, the iPhone will then alert those emergency contacts with a text message — though this can be canceled if you prefer.

Your iPhone will send your current location to your emergency contacts.

Your contacts will also receive updates if your location changes.

To set emergency contacts, go to the Health app, then tap your profile picture.

Tap Medical ID and tap Edit, then scroll to Emergency Contacts.

You can then activate Emergency SOS using The “five clicks” trick.

How to activate Emergency SOS

There are two ways to activate the Emergency SOS features.

Either press the side or top button five times to pull the emergency SOS slider.

“Medical ID helps emergency responders access your critical medical information from the Lock screen, without the need for your passcode,” Apple explained.

“They can see information like allergies and medical conditions, as well as who they can contact in an emergency.”

To set it up, go to the Health app, then tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.

Under the photo, click Medical ID.

Now choose Edit and then activate Show When Locked.

You can also decide to share during an emergency call — though this clever iPhone trick only works in the United States.

Now add all your information and tap Done.

To see your Medical ID, open the lock screen and then tap the emergency button.

Now press the red Medical ID button to see the information.

How to set up emergency contacts on Android

Emergency features on Android are slightly different than on Apple’s, but there’s still a way to send your location to contacts and set up a Medical ID using a Google mobile phone.

Go to the lock screen and tap Emergency.

Then tap on Emergency Information and then either the plus sign or the pencil icon depending on your phone.

You will be asked for a password and you can then update your medical information and add any emergency contacts.

You can also download files Trusted contacts appallowing you to send a location as well as request a friend’s location.

Download the app, sign in, and then start building your desired contact list.

All you need to do is click on “Add Contacts” to create your list.

For this to work, these contacts will need to download the app on their phone as well and approve your request to be an emergency contact.

The app is also available for iPhones, so your contacts don’t have to be just Android users.

How to send emergency location to contacts on Android

Once set up, friends will be able to ask for your location and see if your phone’s battery is low.

You will be able to do the same with them.

To send a location alert, you need to go to the main screen of the app, choose a contact, and tap Send Location Alert Now.

Your location will be shared for 24 hours unless you click the “Stop” button.

You can also click on a contact’s name and ask for their location.

If they haven’t shared it after the default five-minute time, the app on their phone will automatically share their location for them.
