Apple is poised to potentially replace the iPhone “Pro Max” with the all-new “Ultra” iPhone 15 next year, and it’s reliable Bloomberg Journalist Mark Gorman said today.

Writing in his last book Power On NewsletterFor the iPhone 15, Gorman said, Apple is planning a revamped design along with USB-C and a possible name change. Apple could replace its “Pro Max” brand, which it started using with the iPhone‌ 11, with “Ultra,” according to Gorman.

Building on Apple’s current pattern, we can expect a new iPhone design next year, coinciding with the switch to USB-C and the possibility of a new Ultra model that will replace the Pro Max.

The shift to the “Ultra” brand for the latest iPhone‌ will follow in the footsteps of Apple’s recent naming decisions. Notably, the most rugged and extreme Apple Watch to date is called the Apple Watch Ultra, while Apple’s most powerful silicon chip to date is the M1 Ultra.

Details of the iPhone 15‌ are still scarce since it’s still a year away, but Apple is widely expected to switch to USB-C for iPhones next year. In addition, rumors have it that the perforated cutouts and grain, introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro, will be rolling out to all models of the iPhone 15 lineup.
