The annual RevRoad Competition for Entrepreneurs, sponsored by the Central Bank, provides entrepreneurs and business leaders with an opportunity to build trust by promoting their businesses and networking with other successful entrepreneurs. Revroad encourages community members to come support their local startups and network together.
The central bank’s grand prize for this year is $10,000. The runner-up receives a cash prize of $2,500 from Square The third place gets $1,000. Applications for 2022 for the competition closed on August 13. The judges considered hundreds of applicants who narrowed down companies by criteria such as target market, problem/solution fit, team and advisors, leadership, traction, competitive advantage, finances, and more. They selected 36 semi-finalists. All of these companies will be represented at the trade fair at the start of the competition. “First I look for a team that has depth and breadth, excitement and passion for what they do. Then I look for a team that has some real experience,” said James Clark, competition judge, CEO and managing partner at Clark Capital Partners.
This Saturday, the judges will reduce the semi-finalists to the top six contenders who will compete for the grand prize, runner-up, and third place.
Contest judges come from across the Wasatch front and are 34 of Utah’s top business leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs. Among the judges, Davy’s Emily Smith, and Jeff Erickson ExpectationsTyler and John Richards of Startup Ignition Ventures and McKenzie Bauer of Thread Governor.
