Hate how iPhone notifications appear in the new iOS? You can change that

many apple Device users who have recently upgraded to the new iOS 16 have expressed their frustrations about the new notification system. The main complaint is that notifications now automatically appear at the bottom of the iPhone’s lock screen instead of the previous location at the top right below the clock.

“I hate the new bottom stack for notifications and the search bar in iOS. It’s so counterintuitive. Isn’t there a way not to have this?” Apoorva Govind, Founder of Social Commerce App Bestever, was asked last week in a tweet.

Her message was one of many on social media complaining about the modified feature.

Fortunately, the notification system can be changed in a few simple steps to allow for a more personalized screen experience for users.

iOS 16’s new “down” notification system aims to make screens look less cluttered and offer a more user-friendly experience. Users can swipe up notifications to view more messages, and can then cycle through messages and manage notifications.

However, not everyone is open to change, especially people who are used to older versions of notification systems after years of use. If you are among the many who don’t like the new notification style, all you have to do is make a few quick taps on your phone to bring it back to the familiar look of iOS 15 and earlier operating systems.

1. Go to Settings.

From your home screen, just open the Settings app.

2. Go to Notifications.

Once you are in Settings, scroll down to Notifications and tap on it.

3. Choose List.

At the top of the notification screen, you’ll have a few display options: Count, Stack, and List. The Stack option is the default option from the bottom that you will already have on your device once you download iOS 16.

Tap Menu, which will bring your phone back to the old notification system.

The list layout displays new notifications as individual alerts or groups. As the name suggests, it lists messages one by one. In this layout, you can also swipe up on the lock screen to view old alerts, just like the old iOS allowed.

A new Stack option shows notifications stacked on top of one another from the bottom of the lock screen when messages arrive. The most recent alert you received will appear at the top, and a second alert will be partially visible below it. A third notification will tell you how many other notifications you have.

In the Stack layout, users can swipe up or tap the lock screen to switch notifications to the list view.

Do you still find these options cluttering your screen too much?

Perhaps you will find the Count layout more attractive. This style only shows you the number of new alerts in one graphic at the bottom of the screen. The message does not provide information about notifications, but simply lists a number to keep your wallpaper clear.

To access more information from the Count layout, swipe up or tap on the lock screen to switch the message to the Stack view.

If you change your mind about displaying notifications, just follow the steps above to choose a different option.
