Ex-iPhone Commander Joins Arm to Bring More Chips into Your Life

The biggest reason Fadell loves Arm designs over alternatives is their focus on low power consumption. Performance can’t come at the cost of poor battery life. Fadel said that since power is now a major constraint on computers and servers as well, Arm’s low-power focus is even more important.

“Arm was the first truly low-power processor,” Fadel said. “It has always been the arm’s core DNA to make sure the balance of strength and low performance is always maintained.”

Arm licenses build chip designs for companies like Qualcomm and technology for others like Apple that build their own processors.
