Google has banned four fraudulent apps saturated with malware, alerting all Android users to remove them from their devices immediately. The security experts at Malwarebytes first identified these apps and highlighted them to Google.
All these scam apps have been launched and made available to the users by the mobile app group.
In October 2020, the mobile app group launched an app called “Bluetooth Auto Connect”, which has garnered millions of downloads. Some other incorrect apps launched by the same group include Bluetooth App Sender, Mobile Transfer: Smart Switch, and Driver: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB. Although there are strict security rules in place to enter the Android platforms, the suite of mobile apps has somehow passed through the security gates, as the developer has delayed malware. The initial stages of these applications do not feel any harm to the users but as you dive into more usage you will come across phishing sites. Although these scam portals do not appear to be something users need to worry about at first, in time the portals become dangerous.
Malwarebytes experts stated that these apps originally opened dangerous portals to Google. Some portals do no harm, but other non-secure portals trick users into downloading something or ask them to update.
Malwarebytes security experts said, “Chrome tabs open in the background even while the mobile device is locked. When a user unlocks their device, Chrome opens with the latest site. A new tab opens with a new site frequently, and as a result, unlocking your phone after several hours means Close multiple tabs.
